If you’ve never visited the Spudnut Shop in Richland you’ve really missed out. Every year these are a staple for Saturday morning of Cool Desert Nights and I usually buy a dozen for my co-workers working the yearly car show.
These donuts or… I mean Spudnuts are made with potato flour instead or regular flour giving them the name Spudnuts. This business was established in 1948 by Barlow Ghirardo and Jerry Bell. With a $50 check they purchased a franchise and 100 sacks of spudnut flour. The first location was in the Richland Wye before moving to their current location in the 1950’s.
Sunday March 4th, they’ll be celebrating their 70th anniversary. From the UNOFFICIAL Spudnut Fan Page on Facebook there was a post by Douglas Driver stating that they will be having an open house on March 4th from 11a-2p.
